ASK GESCHICHTE

The present-day ASK Kaltenleutgeben was founded on November 14, 1936 in the Gasthaus Maier by the founding members Leopold Ketzer, Karl Götz, Gustav Wallner and Ernst Kopta as the sports association Kaltenleutgeben.

Titles & Achievements

Champions of the 2nd Division South-Southeast (1957/58)
Champions of the 2nd Division East-Central (1982/1983, 1995/1996, 2003/2004, 2012/2013)
Champions of the 1st Division East (2006/2007, 2014/2015)

After the Second World War, the club was re-established on May 31, 1946, as Arbeitersportklub Kaltenleutgeben (ASK Kaltenleutgeben). Following renovations to the destroyed sports field, ASK resumed participation in league play (2nd Division South). A major obstacle was the lack of public transportation; players traveled to nearby matches on foot or by bicycle. For games against more distant opponents, club patrons provided a truck.

In the same year, a lease agreement was signed with the owner of plot 164/2, and construction of the sports field began. The sports field was officially opened with a cup tournament and sports festival over the Pentecost weekend of 1937. Initially, ASK played in the 2nd Division South A and moved up to the 3rd Vienna District Division A in 1938.

After mixed results in the championship, Kaltenleutgeben usually only managed to finish in the middle of the table. In 1957/1958, ASK celebrated their first championship title in the club’s history in the 2nd Division South-Southeast.

After that, ASK played three years in the First Division. In 1982/83, Kaltenleutgen didn’t lose a single match and became champions in dominant fashion. After two seasons in the First Division, they even achieved promotion to the Lower League. The coach at that time was Gerhard Nikischer, who had previously played for many years in the Bundesliga. After three consecutive second-place finishes, they were first relegated back to the First Division and then even further down to the Second Division.
